Will Trump’s Visit Mark a New Chapter in U.S.-Saudi Relations?

On May 15, AGSI hosted a discussion on Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia.

Date

May 15, 2025

About the event

President Donald J. Trump will make Saudi Arabia the first country he visits during his second term in office (after his visit to the Vatican to take part in the funeral of Pope Francis) just as he did in 2017. The upcoming visit reflects his favorable view of the kingdom and his belief that the Saudi leadership will invest in the U.S. economy. Where do U.S.-Saudi relations stand? And what will Trump’s second visit to the kingdom mean for this relationship?

AGSI is pleased to host this conversation with F. Gregory Gause, member of the board of directors, AGSI, and professor emeritus of international affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University.
