About the event
President Donald J. Trump has high expectations for attracting more investments from Gulf Cooperation Council countries. While Gulf sovereign wealth funds are important facilitators of investment into the United States, they are ultimately global investors with diversified portfolios.
Senior Resident Scholar Robert Mogielnicki has published a new edited volume on sovereign wealth funds and the Middle East-Asia investment corridor. In this timely work, A Political Economy of Sovereign Wealth Funds in the Middle East and Asia (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025), he and other leading scholars and practitioners reveal the strategic economic significance of sovereign wealth fund-facilitated linkages and various investment trends in these two prominent and influential regions.
This in-person book launch at the Arab Gulf States Institute will elucidate how sovereign wealth funds operate within and across the Middle East and Asia, examine the collaborative and competitive dynamics between sovereign wealth funds in these regions, and explore other timely issues shaping sovereign wealth fund behavior. These interregional connections enabled by sovereign wealth represent an expanding economic frontier with long-term implications for the Middle East, Asia, and the global economy.
