Sultan Al-Nuaimi

Sultan Al-Nuaimi is the director general of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research. He is the chair of the Advisory Board of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at United Arab Emirates University and a board member of the Arab Media Award. He is also an associate professor and lectures at various UAE colleges, including National Defence College and UAE Joint Command and Staff College. He has delivered specialized lectures in several countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. He is also a researcher in political affairs, an expert in Iranian affairs, and a former member of the Advisory Committee of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award. He has prepared curricula for the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (formerly the Emirates Diplomatic Academy).

Al-Nuaimi received a bachelor’s degree in Persian language and literature from the Department of Oriental Languages and Literature at Ain Shams University in Egypt. His master’s degree was awarded at Ain Shams University in 2003, with the thesis “Political Currents in Iran from 1979 to 2000.” He also translated, from Persian to Arabic, selected excerpts from Saeed Barzin’s “Factionalism in Iran” and Hamid Reza Zarifinia’s Analysing Iranian Political Factions. He obtained his doctoral degree from Ain Shams University in 2007, with the thesis “Iranian Political Thought from the Iranian Revolution until 2000.”

Al-Nuaimi has participated in and delivered research papers at several symposia and conferences in the UAE and abroad. He has also made television appearances and has published articles in various Arabic newspapers, such as Al-Ittihad and Asharq Al-Awsat.

Al-Nuaimi has written several political books, including Iranian Political Thought: Origins, Sources and Impact; Iranian Presidential Elections; Zayed: Identity of the People and Nation; and Political Legitimacy in the United Arab Emirates: Foundations and Development of a Successful Model. He is also interested in literature and has published the short story collection Seven Minutes in Solitude and the novel Today.

Al-Nuaimi has hosted several topical discussion programs on Abu Dhabi TV, including “Wejhat Nazar” and “Nuqta Ala Al Sater.”
