About the event

The Middle East is Asian, shaping and shaped by Asia. In West Asia: A New American Grand Strategy in the Middle East, Mohammed Soliman makes the case that the region’s decoupling from North Africa and its deepening integration into Asian trade, logistics, capital, and security networks is a restoration of the world that existed before European hegemony. That system is reasserting itself today in the shape of Turkey’s engagement in South Asia, India’s expanding partnerships in the Mediterranean, and the rise of the Gulf Arab countries.
