Paul Shaya is a policy and intelligence practitioner with extensive experience analyzing political, economic, and security developments in the Middle East and Africa. He has served in analytic and language roles at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and as an economic officer at the U.S. Department of State, supporting senior policymakers through open-source research, foreign-language analysis, and written assessments.
A native Arabic speaker, Shaya has worked extensively with regional media and public records to inform policy-relevant analysis and briefings. He currently teaches courses on intelligence, national security, and the Middle East at the George Washington University.
