On September 22, AGSIW hosted an open house for students from the Gulf studying in the United States and U.S. students in the field of Gulf and Middle East studies, bringing all together for the program “Sharing Their Journey.”

Senior Resident Scholar Kristin Smith Diwan kicked off the event by discussing AGSIW’s broad scope of expertise while Deputy Director of Program Outreach and Communication Mary Casey-Baker spoke with guests about AGSIW programs and publications. Featured guests Sultan Alamer, PhD candidate at George Washington University, Hala Aldosari, visiting scholar at AGSIW, Mohammed Al Hajji, PhD candidate at Temple University, and Scott Weiner, PhD graduate of George Washington University, spoke about their backgrounds and academic experience between the Gulf and the United States and how social media and blogging have impacted their work.
