Upcoming Event

Preparing for the Gulf’s Economic Infrastructure Buildout

On September 9, AGSI will host a discussion on Gulf infrastructure development post-Iran war.

Date

Sep 9, 2026

Time

10:00am - 11:30am

Location

1150 18th St NW Washington, DC

About the event

Plans for new economic corridors and alternate export routes intended to bypass the Strait of Hormuz are proliferating in the Middle East, with Gulf countries serving as central nodes. While the Iran war has focused attention on the region’s critical chokepoints, it has also prompted interest in broader critical infrastructure buildouts. New multimodal corridors, pipelines, rail networks, roads, ports, and maritime links are emerging. The region’s latest geopolitical dynamics are shifting trade, investment, and energy flows.

The key questions now revolve around feasibility, financing, and timelines. Gulf countries will need foreign partnerships – from the United States and beyond – to advance these ambitious development plans and apply advanced technologies to enhance resilience. What actors are most likely to be involved, and who will be the winners and losers? Where are the new opportunities likely to emerge? What are the key risks moving forward?

This is an in-person event.
