Paul Weir
Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Genel Energy Plc
Paul Weir was appointed executive director and chief executive officer of Genel Energy Plc on October 3, 2022. He is also a member of the Reserves Committee. Weir has worked for almost 40 years in upstream exploration and production, having spent time in the North Sea, Southeast Asia, and Africa, with experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas operations. Weir joined Genel as chief operating officer in January 2020 with responsibilities including all production assets and functional leadership of the operational disciplines. He was appointed interim CEO on June 9, 2022 and then CEO in October 2022. Weir has worked in a variety of operational roles for Nippon Oil Corporation, Elf Aquitane, Occidental Petroleum Company, and TotalEnergies. He holds an MBA in oil and gas management from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
