Hamdullah Mohib
Acting Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Orbitworks
Hamdullah Mohib is a seasoned leader in global space innovation, commercial strategy, and international diplomacy. He currently serves as chief executive officer of Orbitworks, a pioneering satellite manufacturing and delivery venture based in the United Arab Emirates. In this role, Mohib leads strategic growth, operational execution, and cross-border collaboration to position the UAE as a hub for commercial space manufacturing, investment, and international partnerships.
Before transitioning to the space sector, Mohib built a distinguished career spanning public service, diplomacy, and technology. He served as Afghanistan’s ambassador to the United States, where he represented Afghan interests at the highest levels of bilateral engagement. He later served as national security advisor to the president of Afghanistan, leading national security strategy and multilateral negotiations. Mohib’s early career combined technical and academic leadership. He began as an engineer with Intel in the United Kingdom and went on to serve as assistant professor and chief technology officer at the American University of Afghanistan, where he helped develop academic and technology programs. His technical foundation is rooted in a Bachelor of Engineering (with honors) in computer systems engineering and a PhD in computer systems engineering from Brunel University of London. In addition to his executive and technical roles, Mohib has been recognized for his leadership and influence on the global stage. He was named a young global leader by the World Economic Forum, reflecting his commitment to responsible innovation, industrial cooperation, and strategic growth in emerging sectors. Mohib’s interdisciplinary career, spanning engineering, diplomacy, and entrepreneurial leadership, informs his vision for scaling sovereign space capabilities, fostering international collaboration, and accelerating the commercial space ecosystem in the UAE and beyond.
