About the event
In the first three months of 2021, two Gulf Arab countries have been at the forefront of public discourse. Qatar, welcomed back to the Gulf Cooperation Council fold at the Al Ula summit in January, is now looking at renewed economic prospects in the region. In Kuwait, the country’s December 2020 elections resulted in increased political gridlock. What does Qatar’s return to the GCC mean for its economic relationships with its regional neighbors? And what are the expected implications of political standoffs and ongoing uncertainty in Kuwait in the months ahead? Kristin Smith Diwan and Robert Mogielnicki discussed these issues and more.
