UAE Space Ambitions: Building the Space Industrial Base

The United Arab Emirates has emerged as one of the most ambitious and strategically oriented space actors in the Middle East. Through sustained investment in satellite manufacturing, planetary science, astronaut programs, and commercial partnerships, the UAE has positioned space as a pillar of economic diversification, technological sovereignty, and geopolitical relevance. 
 
What role does the private sector play in the UAE’s space industry? With both the United States and the UAE prioritizing commercial space ecosystems and next-generation capabilities – from Earth observation and lunar exploration to in-orbit services – how can private sector collaboration enhance bilateral cooperation?
