Augustus Norton

Augustus Norton is a distinguished professor of international relations and Middle East politics at Boston University. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Arab politics including Hezbollah: A Short History (new edition, 2014), the two volume collection Civil Society in the Middle East, Amal and the Shia: Struggle for the Soul of LebanonThe International Relations of the PLO (senior editor), Political Tides in the Arab World (co-author), UN Peacekeepers (co-author), and Security in the Middle East: New Perspectives (in Arabic). His recent articles have appeared in Current History, Foreign Policy, International Spectator, Journal of Palestine Studies, Middle East Journal, The Nation, and in leading newspapers. Dr. Norton received his BA and MA degrees from the University of Miami, and his PhD from the University of Chicago.
