
Nabil Habayeb
Board Member, AGSI
Nabil Habayeb is a member of the board of directors of the Arab Gulf States Institute. He is a retired General Electric senior vice president and president and chief executive officer of GE International Markets, where he was responsible for leading GE’s operations and growth strategy in international markets outside of Europe and North America. With over 41 years of experience at GE, Habayeb brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise and is passionate about driving impact and creating value for stakeholders.
As CEO of GE International Markets, Habayeb focused on connecting GE’s global scale to build impact in strategic markets. He dedicated his efforts to strengthening stakeholder relationships, supporting the development and execution of market business strategy, managing enterprise risk, and building a strong GE brand while developing local, diverse leadership. Throughout his career, Habayeb consistently demonstrated the ability to deliver results and drive growth in complex and challenging environments.
Habayeb is also an experienced board member and advisor to CEOs of global companies. He is a member of the audit, development, and strategy/risk committees of these institutions, where his expertise also helps shape organization culture, strengthen governance structure, enforce compliance policies, and help develop leadership and growth strategies.
In addition to his professional achievements, Habayeb is also a passionate advocate for promoting access to health care and education and is committed to empowering youth and promoting the role of women in business leadership. He also serves on the boards of the Semaan Foundation and Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon. He is also an advisor to other education and health-care institutions. He has been recognized for his contributions to the region, ranking first several times on Forbes Middle East’s “Global Meets Local – Top 100 Executives in the Arab World” list.
Habayeb was born in Lebanon and attended Syracuse University in New York, where he received a BS in mechanical engineering in 1980 and an MS in the same field in 1982. He is a U.S. citizen and resides both in Dubai and Washington, DC.
